Ever since her student days at Bishop Lynch, Terry May ’74 has been particularly interested in the school’s history. As a student, she loved to visit the library to look at old yearbooks. Fast forward 45 years and she’s now the keeper of the archives as BL’s theater manager and official historian! Summer 2019 marked Ms. May’s 25th year as a BL employee, and this fabulous Friar tends the archives with true devotion. Some of Ms. May’s favorite items include old drum major and cheer uniforms, a quilt top with squares designed by the senior class, photos of priests and nuns who worked at the school, and even a Cabbage Patch doll made to celebrate the women’s basketball team! When Head Women’s Basketball Coach Andy Zihlman secured his 1,000 th career win at Bishop Lynch this fall, he cemented his place in the history books as one of the winningest coaches of all time. Coach Zihlman has mentored hundreds of Friar student-athletes over the course of his 42 years at BL. As a long-time coach, the swish of the ball through the net, the drum of the ball on the hardwoods and the jarring of the game buzzer are forever in his ears. But the best sound he hears is the sincerely resonating “thank you” from his current and former players. When those fabulous artists use their considerable talent to showcase our Friar family, we love it all the more! Meet BL Junior Clair Jackson. Clair draws digitally and her pop art and comic book style is inspired by art world greats like Roy Lichtenstein and Stan Lee. While at BL, Clair has taken Intro to Art, Drawing and Painting I and she’s currently taking Sculpture I. She lists fine arts teachers Mr. Frank Brown and Mr. Corey Johnson, along with social studies teacher Dr. Mark Morris, as her campus teaching favorites. Clair wants to make her passion for art a career in either animation or graphic design. We think she’s already well on her way to career success! Whether she’s at the front of the chemistry class or holding nighttime stargazing sessions in the stadium, Mrs. Price inspires her students to inquire and explore the universe.
